4.) Pastor’s Report – Fr. Bob McCann
Fr. Bob opened his report by thanking the new incoming council members who have
been selected for a three-year term.  He explained that the Pastoral Council is the
visionary body of St. Raymond and that it should be a good representation of our
parishioners.
He reported the transformer that blew out on January 5th will cost an estimated
$35K, but he is waiting on the insurance company to get back to him in regards to
what will be covered under the Church’s insurance policy.  Fr. Bob has also been
speaking with some expert electrical engineers of our parish to discuss the poor
electrical wiring of Moran Hall.  He would like to re-align the wiring of Moran Hall to
improve and make sure the building has an efficient energy saving wiring system in
place.
There will be outside speakers (Bill Ford & Kelly O’Lague Dulka) from the Diocese of
Oakland coming in to address each mass the weekend of February 11th and talking
about this year’s Bishop’s Appeal.  The 2006 goal for St. Raymond has been lowered
to $47,969.
Fr. Bob mentioned to the Council that Virginia Courey (Parish Secretary) will be
leaving St.
This year, St. Raymond will have Lenten Soup nights on Thursday’s to attract more
people and increase community participation.  Looking at the Moran Hall calendar,
Thursday’s seemed to be the best day for this community event.
Fr. Bob mentioned to the council that there would be a Public hearing at City Hall to
review conceptual designs for the new Shannon Park community center that will be
built across the street.  He wanted to know if anyone from the council would be
interested in attending this hearing to represent St. Raymond.
5.) Old Business – Sacrificial Giving for Capitol Improvements
Tom McClean will conduct more research regarding the unused funds and will report
back to the Council at the March 2006 meeting.
Fr. Bob mentioned that large storage bins are needed on the property for various
groups, such as the Fall Festival and the Religious Education Department.
Fr. Bob also mentions that when St. Raymond received its city permit from Dublin to
build Moran Hall, it was agreed upon that St. Raymond would build a handicap
walkway from the street to the Church.  The estimated cost for this project will be
approximately $50K-$60K.
6.) New Business
Rosann proposes the purchase and use of magnetic badges for the Pastoral Council
team.  It was well received and will be purchased so that the council can wear this at
mass and at various other Church activities to be better identified by the community.
Rosann also proposes that the Pastoral Council sponsor and work one or two Donut
Sunday’s each year.  Everyone on the council agrees.  Tom will check with Diana Bitz
on available Donut Sunday dates and will report back to the council.
Pastoral Council will also co-sponsor the March 9th Lenten Soup night.  Date has
been confirmed with Maggie Ringle.
Being a new member of the Pastoral Council, Eric asked for the current report on the
demographics of our parishioners at St. Raymond and the surrounding community.
Tom mentioned that a member of the council inquired about reviewing the current
2006 parish budget to better assist in the implementation of the newly developed 5-
year plan.  Fr. Bob will bring this to the council in April once it is completed.
Bonnie Kramer would like to see more activities for seniors at St. Raymond.  She will
do some initial research and report back to the council.
Fr. Bob reported that speaker Fr.Tom Bonnacci will come and talk about the Parish
Mission in March 2006
7.) Sacrificial Giving – Connie Spence
St. Vincent de Paul wrote a thank you letter to the Pastoral Council for its
contribution of $1,500 at the end of 2005.  Included in the letter, St. Vincent de Paul
is seeking additional financial support from St. Raymond.  Connie will research and
inquire with this charity and report back to the council.
All members of the council discussed the importance of communicating to all
parishioners the various charitable contributions that St. Raymond’s makes.  Ideas of
this communication will be further discussed and explored.
To continue to build a strong relationship with the City of Dublin, Eric asked if St.
Raymond supports any local charities within the City.  Fr. Bob and the council
mentioned the following, Shepard’s Gate, Solidarity Recovery, Habitat for Humanity,
and Kairos Prison Ministry.
8.) Closing Prayer – Connie Spence
