3.) Meeting Discussion Topics – Pastoral Council
Pastoral Council Discernment:
All on the Council agreed that the Pastoral Council
Discernment Date should be Saturday December 2nd.  Tom mentioned that he will not be
able to attend this meeting as he will be out of town, but suggested that since he will be
leaving the Council, the meeting should go on.
Connie asked Fr. Bob how many applicants we will be taking for 2007.  Because both
Tom McClean and Rosann Russo will be leaving, Fr. Bob mentioned that we should only
look for two candidates.
Census Questions:  Pastoral Council guest Diana Bitz came in to discuss and share her
learning’s from a workshop she attended in Sacramento on Parish Life.  She spoke about
how other parishes have effectively executed various types of Town Hall meetings and
that having input sessions prior to the actual Town Hall was successful.
It was suggested that Fr. Bob needs to personally invite parishioners to these input
sessions.  A letter from Fr. Bob to the randomly selected individuals is the best and most
effective way to reach over 600 parishioners.
Fr. Bob wants to have this Town Hall meeting and will encourage all to attend.  The Town
Hall meeting however needs to be well structured with a moderator as well as the input
sessions that will take place.  Each input session will need a facilitator and a note taker.
The Pastoral Council continued to discuss the idea of doing the census/survey at one of
the mass weekend’s in January.  Concerns were whether there was enough time for
questionnaires to be completed.
The Council began to further discuss the idea of utilizing the input sessions to gather
feedback from parishioners.  Along with Diana’s input and knowledge about how the
input sessions work, the Council though about doing four 1 hour sessions.
The Pastoral Council agreed to look at January to conduct the input sessions.  Eric and
Tom both volunteered to help Diana with the planning of these sessions.
A list of questions were developed prior to the meeting.  Tom asked everyone on the
Council to complete the questionnaire and bring them to the next meeting for discussion.
4.) Pastor’s Report – Fr. Bob McCann
Fr. Bob mentioned that Principal Tony Guevara will be in and out of school as his wife is
ill.
He mentioned that Tony, Principal at St. Raymond School would like to implement a
Development Campaign for the school.  This idea will be presented to the parish Finance
Committee.
Fr. Bob reported that the Oktoberfest was a success and that he received a lot of positive
feedback.  He did mention that next year all booths need to stay open until time to close.
Some of the food booths closed down early and ran out of food.  Rosann asked if the
parish made money on the event.  Fr. Bob didn’t have the final numbers, but will give the
Council an update at the next meeting.
In October, the Parish conducted its annual survey on church attendance.  Overall, Fr.
Bob mentioned that attendance it up, but won’t have the final numbers until the following
week.
