Negotiations with Korean Catholic Group
o
There are many Korean Catholics in the Bay Area (approx.10, 000) and they
would like to find a local parish church for Korean priests to celebrate the Mass
in Korean. There are sites in Oakland, San Francisco and San Jose, but none in
our area. Many Koreans are “drifting” to other denominations due to this.  Their
proposal is for a Sunday afternoon Mass followed by a social time and room for
religious education classes for the children. Fr. McCann and the Staff are still in
negotiations about the possibility of their coming to our parish.
·
Pictorial Directory for the Parish
o
The pictorial directory project would update the parish list and include families
of the parishioners. Group pictures for organizations and committees. It will also
be possible to print addresses.
·
Catholic Schools Week
o
This was a great success.
·
New Catholic High School in Livermore
o
This school is again on the agenda from the Diocese. We expect our school to be
a feeder school to this new high school. At the moment we expect it to take 4-5
years before becoming a reality.
·
Christ the Light Cathedral Update
o
The Cathedral of “Christ the Light” is about 80% finished. The entire project
includes the cathedral, the chancery, the bishop’s residence, the parish offices, a
conference center, and a bookstore. The day of dedication is scheduled for
Sept.25. This will kick-off a yearlong dedication celebration with parish
involvement. The cost is projected at $189 million and most of the money has
been raised. A September collection is planned for people to donate and to be
part of this project. People could offer between $100 and $10,000 to have
memorials.
·
Lenten Activities
o
Parishioners have the Lenten Booklets to keep track of events during Lent. Soup
Night has been a huge success! We even ran out of soup the first night!
·
Safety Concerns of Blocked Exits during Mass
o
People are still blocking the doors of the Church during Mass. It is a fire hazard
and the Fire Department has real concerns. Latecomers need to move away from
the doors and find a seat or find a place along the walls.

No date as of yet
·
St. Patrick’s Day Event
o
The Council discussed the idea of participating in the Dublin St. Patrick’s Day
festivities. Non-profit groups receive a free booth. This could be a great outreach
to the community. We discussed establishing a committee to work on this and for
possibly combining information from the parish and the school.
·
St. Raymond Website
o
More and more parishioners are using the parish website. PC minutes to be
posted after Council approval.
·

children with special needs.
o
St. Joan’s Cross Walk – During Lent the youth groups of both parishes will walk
from St. Raymond’s to St. Joan’s. They will say the Stations of the Cross along
their way. At St. Joan’s they will have soup and bread after the walk.
