Minutes of the St Raymond Pastoral Council Meeting

Members Present: Mark Bales, Kevan Blanco(by phone), Janet Egler, Christian Favor,

Connie Kersten, Pat Kohnen, Fr. Bob McCann, Bob Reguilon, and Matt Troiano

Meeting convened at: 7:05

Opening Prayer by Mark Bales

Approval of Minutes from September 4 Meeting with corrections. Mark will check who

the correct contact is to send minutes to in order to get them on the Web site. M, Matt

Troiano and S, Janet Egler.  Motion approved.

Ministry Faire Discussion: Clarify how to be selected for the Pastoral Council. Thank

Bob Reguilon for organizing and to the people who participated. Connie Kersten gave a

presentation about the Master Building Plan at Women’s Guild board meeting. Master

Plan feed back – have all ministries participate in the fundraising. Contact businesses to

help fund the Plan. Many Ministry Faire visitors showed support for youth and the Plan.

Next year add tri-fold and tablecloth with flowers to the Pastoral Council table space.

Perhaps change the traffic pattern(run down the middle) and add food and greeters.

Unfinished Business:

Website: Need to update pictures of Pastoral Council members. Mark’s email and phone

number will be included, and other members as comfortable.

Bulletin: Mark’s email and phone number as Chairman will be included. Deadline is

Thursday before the Sunday when the bulletin comes out.

Bylaws: Develop for Pastoral Council? Job descriptions? Ideas: Chair, facilitate meeting,

represent parish; Vice Chair stand in for Chair; Secretary, minutes and correspondence.

Three officers plus Kevan Blanco will draft proposed job descriptions and present to the

council.

Plan to Close on the Spiritual Plan: Mark, Christian and Janet will meet before next

council meeting to agree on content for council approval in November.

Also look into a tri-fold brochure to welcome people – what could be added about

Spiritual Plan?

Pastor’s Report:

1.

New phones are here, all numbers change on October 10, except the main parish

number.

2.

Father Ray is new dean for St Joan’s, St Isadore’s, and St Raymond.

3.

Prison Ministry – met with Pleasanton CCOP and Livermore

(2) to join with

deanery to meet the needs of the Prison Ministry.

4.

Ministry scheduling software – brings families back together.

5.

Cathedral dedication got good coverage in the press. Encourage people to go. Free

clinic dedicated 10/9. Hope to add a legal clinic in November. Perhaps add food a

few days a week, with education.

6.

Parish needs more space. Meeting overload.

7.

Korean community – are looking for a priest.

New Business:

Pastoral Council Meeting Schedule for 2008-2009:

11/6, 12/4, 1/8, 2/5, 3/5, 4/2, 5/7,

6/4

Discernment Process: Advertise discernment process in April, meeting in May (special)

for council and candidates, Pastoral council makes selections in June.

Youth Activities Report: Christian reported on the high school leadership meeting.

Ideas included --

Medshare service project? Sandwiches for homeless people? Ideas to

unify the parish? Opportunities for families?
